What is Askito?

Askito is a document sharing platform that lets organizations share content with an AI-powered chat assistant. When you view a shared document, the organization that shared it (“the content owner”) may collect certain information as described below.

Information we collect

Contact information you provide. When a content owner requires identification, you may be asked to enter your name, email address, company name, and phone number before viewing a document.

Chat messages. Messages you send to the AI assistant are stored and shared with the content owner to help them understand reader interest and provide better follow-up.

Usage data. We record when a document is viewed, including timestamp, referral source, and UTM parameters if present in the link.

Cookies

We use two first-party cookies on document viewer pages:

• askito_session — an anonymous session identifier that links your chat messages and page views within a single visit. Expires after 30 days.
• askito_contact — stores the contact details you provided (name and email) so you don't have to re-enter them on subsequent documents hosted on the same domain. Expires after 1 year.

Both cookies are scoped to the domain you are visiting. They are not shared across different websites and are not used for advertising.

How your data is used

• To provide the document viewing and chat experience you requested.
• To share your contact information and conversation with the content owner, so they can follow up with you.
• To generate aggregated analytics for the content owner (e.g., how many people viewed a document).

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your data for advertising. Your information is only shared with the organization that sent you the document link.

Data retention

Contact information and chat messages are retained as long as the content owner maintains their Askito account. If a content owner deletes their account, associated viewer data is deleted.

Your rights

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data by contacting us at the email below. We will respond within 30 days.
